Assimilation

Assimilation is something we all do without realizing it, for example, one way is following fashion.  People want to be like other people assimilate into a new group. Assimilation is necessary to fit in; everyone has assimilated in one way or another.
Assimilation is a good thing, without it people wouldn’t fit in with others and America wouldn’t be the same itself. We are all a combination of many different types of cultures and without assimilation; no one would ever be able to talk to anyone else. Many people enjoy assimilating into society; they fit in and sometimes are not even noticed.
Beneatha tries to assimilate herself within her college classmates by trying out many things they enjoy. She straightens her hair and dresses similar to all the people at her school. Doing this doesn’t necessarily mean anything bad, she has just strayed a bit from her black heritage and culture.

Assimilation is necessary for people to get ahead in life. In order to get certain places, you need to be life certain people. Some people don’t like it, others don’t mind it at all. People tend to get mixed up in the assimilation that they forget who they are. Others purposely forget to leave behind a life they wish never existed.

  1. The points that you mentioned are all very rue. It helped that you gave examples from the book and real life.

  2. I "Liked" your blog, but I disagree on when you said "Many people enjoy assimilating into society". Most people do not like assimilating, but do it to "survive" in this world whether it be economicaly, politicaly, or any other reason. Like if you are ESL, you basicaly NEED to learn English to "survive" in America, to get a good job and and be more social.

  3. I was able to understand your ideas on assimilating without realizing that you did i agree on that. I also think people that assimilate without noticing dont change who they are in the inside just on the physical appearance.

  5. I can see where you commented on the assimilation of Americans, but you are contradicting yourself when you say there are also a lot of different cultures though.

  6. Yeah, i do agree with your blog. I could clearly understand how many people could assimilate with fashion or anything by that nature. And the cartoon really added insight and provided a visual aid to help me understand it more.
